Jenny Brown is a visual artist based in Providence, RI, whose primary mediums are drawing and collage. She studied at Bennington College & the School of Visual Arts, and recently wrapped up at solo exhibition at Voltage Coffee & Art in Cambridge, MA. She has a special interest in using found materials.

Showpaper 158: Serra Victoria Bothwell Fels

Serra Victoria Bothwell Fels (b. 1982) is a Tennessee-Australian-American based in Brooklyn. From discarded housing materials, she makes large-scale construction installations that are submerging environments built into existing architecture with a sense of placelessness, awkward entrances, and inviting nooks. Her work abstracts structures into layers that explores how specific qualities of constructed environments create experiential constructs. Loosely combining concepts from her ‘blueprint’ paintings with a site’s specific geography, she builds towards particular feelings and moments that subtly form people’s experiences within the installation.

SVBF’s large-scale installations are most often shown in abandoned or odd locations; her work has recently been exhibited at the Clocktower Gallery, Scope, F.L.A. Gallery, and Parse Gallery; at the Dithyrambalina Music Box Project; and with her collective Rabid Hands in a former convent, a crumbling machine warehouse, and an about-to-be-demolished hotel. She currently has work in Hidden City at deserted secret society lodge, and has an upcoming show at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
